Female broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah and lawyer Sandra Ankobea have received the full blessing of Minister of Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuye to work as ambassadors for women football in Ghana.

The two personalities are expected to raise funds in support and development of the Women’s game in the country.

The Minister, who admitted he was touched by the firm conviction of the two ladies in their pursuit of development of women football said he was looking forward to working with them.

“We have not set a target for the ladies in fact we need more money because the more they bring in the more they get,” Nii Lantey told the Press

The Minister also encouraged anyone who was interested in joining the two ladies in raising funds to come forward as it was the new direction in generating income.

Boxing: Legendary Night put off

Boxing fans hopeful of watching former world champions Joseph Agbeko and Joshua Clottey fight on the same bill in Accra this weekend may have to wait a little longer after the fight promoters, Fresh King Entertainment (FKE) and Box Office Sports Promotions (FKE), announced the postponement of the April 29 Legendary Night Boxing" bill.

The two former IBF world champions were to headline the bill scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium, with middleweight Clottey and bantamweight Agbeko set to fight Brazilian Anderson Clayton and Filipino brawler Cris Alfante respectively in non-title bouts.

According to a press statement jointly signed by Eben Noye of FKE and Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye of BOSP, the two promotional outfits are working on a new date and further details will be announced in due course.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye is of no doubt that his current club will deepen the woes of his former side Asante Kotoko when they meet in the league on Monday night.

Soulama spent a couple of season with Asante Kotoko where he helped them win the league title.

Former Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah has confirmed he has started taking courses to become a coach five years after hanging up his boots.

Appiah who is regarded by many as the best Black Stars captain in modern era last played competitive in 2011.

Appiah has been involved in some projects and charity games, the latest being the Vodafone peace match to come off later this year in Accra and Kumasi.

But he confirms for the first time he is taking his batches.

The longest-serving chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), Welbeck Yaw Abrah-Appiah, has described Black Stars coach Avram Grant as a ‘lazy man’ and poor a scout.

According to the experience football administrator, Grant’s excessive stay in Europe is the reason for his inability to identify and invite quality locally based players for even Black Stars friendly matches.

Amir Khan has raised the prospect of an all-British fight against Kell Brook, as his hopes of a match with legendary fighter Manny Pacquiao diminish.

The 28-year-old from Bolton had hoped to be Pacquiao's final opponent.

"It just seems Pacquiao doesn't want to fight me," he told BBC Sport, naming Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson and Sheffield's Brook, 29, as alternatives.
