Ghana’s Harrison Afful’s splendid cameo against Chelsea Football Club for MLS club, Charlotte FC, earned him more than just an impressive preseason victory.
Afful, who played 36 second-half minutes, also scored a shirt from the new Chelsea signing, Raheem Sterling.
The fullback was introduced in the second half of the game and largely held his own against Sterling as Charlotte FC kept a clean sheet in the second period and went on to defeat the two-UCL champions on penalties.
The ex-Black Stars defender was full of energy as he helped keep Chelsea’s elite players at bay.
The 35-year-old joined Charlotte FC from Columbus Crew and has gone on to play 12 times so far in the ongoing Major League Soccer season.
